Bangkok has no shortage of good hotels. What it lacks is a reason to pick one. This one opened inside the One Bangkok district in a 216 meter tower with 260 rooms, and its reason is outside the window: Lumpini Park, 57.6 hectares of it, public since 1925, and free.
One page per facility, from the arrival hall at street level up to the Club Lounge on 23. Along the way there is something almost nobody writes about, which is how this building stacks vertically and how many lifts you ride in a day. Twelve pages, about eighteen minutes.
The last page has a tickable list of twelve things. Nothing on it is required. Numbers 4, 5, and 7 cost nothing and most guests never learn they exist, and one of them is outside the front door.
01 · Arrival
How to get there, and what happens when you do
The hotel sits inside the One Bangkok district at the corner of Wireless Road and Rama IV, facing Lumpini Park. The first piece of advice locals give is always the same one: do not take a taxi. Traffic on those two roads runs more or less around the clock, and the metro will put you inside the building without your feet touching a street.

From the airport the run along the Chalerm Maha Nakhon expressway takes about forty minutes, and that figure assumes the road is behaving. The hotel car is a BMW 7 Series and comes with a meet and greet at the terminal plus an escort to fast track security. It runs around one hundred US dollars, which becomes relevant on page 12 when the advisor credit comes up.
- BookingDecide on Club access first, then park view or city view. Those two choices matter far more than which floor you land on.
- By metroMemorize this string: MRT Lumphini, exit 1, B1 Parade level. Street level navigation in this district is unrewarding and the indoor route is the correct one.
- DrivingParking is free, and the district has six entrances off Wireless Road and Rama IV with a direct expressway link. In Bangkok that is a real advantage.
02 · Public spaces
A building that takes two lifts
This is the least written about feature of the hotel and the one you meet most often. Street level holds an arrival hall and nothing else, and you pass through it only when you come and when you go. The lobby is higher up. The rooms are higher still. Between each pair sits its own bank of lifts.

The lobby itself is generous, with marble and real ceiling height and long views out. The window side is the best seating on that floor.
The interior theme rests on actual history
The interiors are built around a concept called the Meeting of Two Civilizations, which reads like a press release until you learn where you are standing. Wireless Road in the nineteenth century was where Thai noble houses and foreign legations clustered, and where much of Siam's opening to the world took place. Lacquered wood, hand embroidered textiles, and Thai motifs handled with a contemporary eye all follow from that. The welcome ritual, called the Elemental Ensemble, is performed on klong yao, the Thai long drum.
Some of the hotel's public space is outdoors and does not belong to the hotel at all. One Bangkok runs a two kilometer Art Loop with permanent works by Anish Kapoor, Sir Tony Cragg, and the Thai artist Alex Face, and the concierge can arrange a guided walk of it.
03 · Rooms
Book the park view
The entry-level Deluxe Room runs 50 square meters, which is generous for a recent opening in central Bangkok. Every category has floor to ceiling glass and many have a balcony. Only one decision at booking is truly consequential, and it is park view against city view.

Two things to know before you book
The first is the view. Only one face of this tower looks at the park, and from the other directions the near view is the building next door. One reviewer on the twenty third floor, in an upgraded category, still looked straight at a neighboring tower and had to angle himself to see any city at all. Height does not solve this. The room code does.
The second is sound. Several guests report hallway noise carrying into the room, and describe the furniture and finishing as lighter than the rate suggests. This is a tendency across the current generation of new Bangkok builds rather than a fault unique to this hotel. If quiet matters to you, ask at booking to be kept away from the lift lobby and the housekeeping pantry.

04 · Bathroom
Where the money clearly went
The bathroom is the most solid specification in the building. Full marble, double vanity, a freestanding tub and a walk-in shower as separate fixtures, and a Japanese style washlet. Every one of those comes standard in the entry-level Deluxe Room.

The tub deserves its own sentence. A fair share of recent Bangkok openings give the entry category a shower only, and that omission turns up again and again in guest reviews as a disappointment. Here the freestanding tub starts at the lowest room code and is a serious size. If your way of traveling involves walking until your legs give out and then wanting a long soak, this page is worth more to you than the Club Lounge page.
05 · Club level
Floor 23, five services a day, and one brand-wide rule
The Club Lounge occupies floor twenty three with an unbroken run of windows facing Lumpini Park. People who review this brand for a living tend to agree on it: this is among the best Ritz-Carlton lounges anywhere. It serves five times a day, and the way in is the room rate rather than your status card.

A brand rule to settle before you book
The Ritz-Carlton gives no complimentary breakfast and no lounge access to any tier of Marriott Bonvoy elite status. Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador are all treated the same. This is brand policy rather than a decision this hotel made. St. Regis and Luxury Collection within the same group do extend breakfast, and the Ritz-Carlton deliberately does not.
So if you are used to status carrying you, the arithmetic here needs redoing. There are two routes into the Club: book the Club room code and pay for it, or book through a travel advisor program and take restaurant breakfast instead. Page 12 lays both out.
Club categories also carry a few things that do not appear on the door. A Club ambassador handles private check-in on floor twenty three so you never touch the main desk. Two garment pressings a day. Shoeshine. A coffee or tea wake-up service, where you ring when you surface and a pot arrives. Every evening there is The Golden Hour, an hour of cocktails and storytelling about the city's history.
- Six o'clockThe evening spread has just come out, the light is turning, and the whole park goes dark below the windows. This is the best hour on the floor.
- After nineOnly dessert and cordials remain and the room has emptied out. For sitting quietly with a drink, this beats six o'clock.
- EarlyDoors at 6:30 and usually nobody there. The park at first light is worth one early alarm.
- CallsThe meeting room off the lounge can be reserved, which is more dignified than taking a call from your room.
06 · Dining
Duet, the kind you travel for
A glasshouse on floor seven, thirty two seats, with a terrace attached and the tree canopy of Lumpini Park filling the view. The wooden ceiling is carved with motifs drawn from nature and the greenery runs from outside to inside. This is the most interesting room in the building.

The double plus after a Thai price is a local convention meaning the figure excludes a 10 percent service charge and 7 percent VAT, so the final bill lands about seventeen percent above the menu number.
The Michelin Guide inspectors picked out one specific thing here: the zero proof pairing is the smart order, because the cooking is delicate enough that wine can flatten it. That is an unusual note in a fine dining write-up, where the wine list normally takes the praise. Sixteen hundred baht buys you a more interesting evening than the alcoholic pairing does.
The hotel also runs something called Dinner by Duet at Lumpini Terrace, which moves the same cooking philosophy onto the terrace for a private eight act dinner with Champagne and sommelier pairings. For two people that is a better use of an evening than the dining room.
07 · Dining
The other three rooms
Apart from the glasshouse on seven, the food and drink all lives on the lobby level. Breakfast, afternoon tea, and a late drink are handled on one floor.

Breakfast in this part of the world is a different category
Lily's serves a buffet plus an à la carte menu you can order from without limit, Thai and western on both sides, and you are meant to stack them. One reviewer described the buffet as having so much on it that narrowing down felt impossible. Another came back a second morning specifically for the Thai milk tea waffle. The à la carte sheet is the part people miss, since plenty of guests sweep the buffet and leave.
The one thing to know is the peak. Queues form near the 10:30 close, and when it is busy an order occasionally goes astray. Arrive earlier and none of that applies, and the lobby level is at its best in the morning light anyway.
The cocktail list at Caleō is a history of clubs
Caleō takes its concept from the great social clubs, and the cocktail list is divided into five sections, each one a tribute to a club that left a mark, with Thai flavors folded into the classic builds. Ask the bartender which club a section belongs to and why that one made the cut. The list was designed to be asked about.
08 · Facilities
The pool deck, a salt room, and a 24 hour gym
The pool is on the lobby level. Outdoor, infinity edge, rectangular, salt water, with a children's pool and a whirlpool beside it and a line of shaded cabanas. The view off this deck beats most of the rooms in the building, and it costs nothing extra.

One small failing in the gym
The equipment and the space are both good. What it lacks is natural light and any view, a consequence of sitting on the inner side of floor seven. Anyone who actually wants to look at Bangkok while exercising is three minutes from Lumpini Park, which has running tracks and a free outdoor gym that has been there since 1979, and which fills up at dawn.
The used coffee grounds come back to you
The spa makes its own Vanilla Latte body scrub from the hotel's spent coffee grounds, dried and blended with Thai coconut oil, organic sugar, Himalayan pink salt, and vanilla. Among the sustainability commitments listed here, this is one of the few you actually come into contact with rather than read about on a card by the sink.
- EarlyThe pool opens at six. Morning is the only cool part of a Bangkok day, and the deck at that hour is more or less yours.
- OrderSwim first, then go up to seven for the steam room and the salt room. The water runs cool, so heat afterward lands well.

Where it wins, and where it does not
A year and a half in, the platforms and the career reviewers land in roughly the same place. This is a solid luxury hotel, strongest in the lounge, the breakfast, and the service, with the deductions clustered on hardware detail and on price.

10 · Around
Lumpini Park, One Bangkok, and accessibility
The real argument for this hotel is outside its doors. South is the park, downstairs is the district, and both are on foot.

Accessibility
Most hotel write-ups skip this section, which makes it a good test of whether a new building was taken seriously. The disclosure here is unusually complete. The main entrance is accessible, rooms are reached through interior corridors, and the restaurants, meeting spaces, fitness center, spa, and pool entrance all sit on accessible routes. The pool has a self-operating lift or a sloped entry.
Accessible rooms offer roll-in showers and transfer showers, bathtub grab rails, an adjustable height hand-held shower wand, lowered outlets and viewports, toilets and vanities at wheelchair height, lever door handles, closed caption television, TTY and TTD compatible equipment, and alarm clock telephone ringers. Parking includes accessible and van accessible bays, and valet will handle vehicles fitted out for drivers in wheelchairs. Service animals are welcome with no fee and no documentation. Configurations and counts vary, so call +66 2-180-7777 when you book.
Sustainability
The published water footprint is 1,307.63 liters per room night, alongside guest room recycling and EV charging. Add the coffee grounds scrub from page 08 and these are the parts with numbers attached, which makes them checkable.
- DawnBe in the park before seven. Runners, tai chi groups, and aerobics classes are all out, and it is the only cool stretch of a Bangkok day.
- EveningAfter five the park comes back to life. For a longer walk take the Green Mile through to Benjakitti Park, which is the stretch where you forget you are in Bangkok.
- Off dutyGo down to B1 for the cheaper restaurants and convenience stores. Staying in a hotel like this does not oblige you to eat every meal upstairs.
11 · Little known
The street name is buried under the hotel
Wireless Road is Thanon Witthayu in Thai, and witthayu means radio. The street carries that name because a little over a century ago Thailand's first radiotelegraph transmission went out from this exact plot of land. The foundations of that station were dug up in 2016 when One Bangkok broke ground.
1. Four layers
The sequence runs roughly like this. First the Saladaeng Radiotelegraph Station, from which Siam sent its first signal out to the world, and from which the road took its name. Once the technology was overtaken, the site became the Old Cadet Academy and stayed a military school for more than forty years. From 2001 to 2011 it was the Suan Lum Night Bazaar, a sprawling late night market with stalls, a beer garden, and a traditional puppet theater, which anyone who visited Bangkok in that decade will remember. The original Lumpinee Boxing Stadium stood nearby. When the bazaar's lease ran out, the Crown Property Bureau leased the plot to developers in 2014, and One Bangkok followed.
2. They did not flatten the foundations
Clearing the ground in 2016 turned up the base structure of the telegraph station. The plot had already been designated a national historic site, so the developers worked with the Fine Arts Department, archaeologists, and conservation architects to excavate it. Several hundred objects came out: fragments of bone china, faded floral tiffin tins, perfume bottles, a jar of Yardley hair oil, a police cadet's worn wallet.
Those objects now sit in The Wireless House, a small green and white building three minutes' walk from the hotel, restored as a permanent exhibition. One wall of it is a grid of glass squares holding the fragments. They were chosen for being intimate rather than for being beautiful or rare.
3. Which explains the building above them
Knowing that layer, the Meeting of Two Civilizations theme in the interiors stops being a slogan. This road was always where Siam talked to the world. The first conversation ran in Morse code and the current one runs through Michelin listings and public art. The Art Loop outside carries Anish Kapoor and Sir Tony Cragg alongside the Thai artist Alex Face, which is the same exchange in a different language.

How to book it, and who it is for
This page rests on a single fact: the Ritz-Carlton extends no complimentary breakfast and no lounge access to any Marriott Bonvoy tier, so the booking logic here differs from the Marriott playbook you know. Every Ritz-Carlton participates in Marriott STARS, and STARS is the route to breakfast.

Set the three routes side by side and the picture is clear. Points keep the cash down and leave you buying breakfast. A Club room buys the five services a day and the windows on twenty three. STARS buys restaurant breakfast plus a credit you can put toward the airport car, with the same room code you were going to book anyway. All three are reasonable. The difference is whether this trip belongs upstairs or downstairs.

- You want real green outside the window. Plenty of Bangkok hotels can give you a skyline, and very few can give you a park
- Your trip includes one serious French dinner. Duet is seven floors down from your bed
- You are traveling with children. Pool, Ritz Kids, a park five minutes away, and three indoor play venues on level 6 of the district
- Your days are in Silom or Sathorn, or in the One Bangkok offices themselves
Do not if
- This is your first time in Bangkok. The riverside grande dames give a fuller first meeting: the Chao Phraya, the Grand Palace, the boats going by. That is the first lesson in this city
- You want the colonial-era atmosphere of old Bangkok. That belongs to the Mandarin Oriental end of the market, and this hotel is deliberately new
- You are sensitive to sound insulation and finishing detail
- Budget is the first consideration. One price tier down, Bangkok offers an unreasonable number of options
