At Caesar Park Hotel Taipei the rack rate and the price people actually pay differ by four to five times. The hotel stands at 38 Zhongxiao West Road Section 1, with 478 rooms across twenty floors above ground, and it opened in 1973. It began as the Hilton Taipei, the first international chain hotel in Taiwan, and in its opening year it was the tallest building in the country. It connects directly to Exit M6 of Taipei Main Station, and a room key lets you ride a lift from basement level one to the lobby or to your own floor.
Three things are worth settling before you book. There is no parking lot on the property, not one space. Of the nine room types, only the Station Suite has a separate shower enclosure. And since 13 February 2026 the rooms hold no bottled water, only a kettle, with a dispenser on each floor. Nightly totals for every room type are on page 3, and the costs outside the room rate are on page 8. Reading time is about forty five minutes.

01 · ARRIVAL AND THE BASICS
On a wet day you will not open an umbrella, because of one lift in the basement
The most valuable thing about this hotel sits in a single line on its own website: it was the first hotel in Taiwan connected directly to a public concourse. Exit M6 of the Taipei Main Station metro is beside the building, and with a room key you can take a lift from basement level one to the lobby or to your own guest floor. Arriving by conventional rail, by high speed rail, by Taoyuan Airport metro, by intercity coach or by city bus, you never have to come up to street level.
That is worth a great deal in a Taipei summer and in a Taipei rainy season. It also explains something you will meet on arrival: every guest lift has key card control, and the card is what reaches a guest floor. When anyone can walk in from the underground mall and stand in the lift lobby, access control has to live inside the lift.
There is a sequence to learn, though. The lift needs a room key, and you do not have one yet when you step off the train. The first trip still takes you up to the ground floor to check in, and the shortcut from basement level one belongs to you from the second trip onward. This is the easiest thing to get wrong in the few minutes when you are pulling a suitcase out of the underground mall and looking for a sign.

02 · LOBBY AND PUBLIC SPACES
The whole building has three public facilities, on the sixth floor and the twenty first
The public space here is honest about itself. The hotel facilities page lists three items: a sixth floor fitness center, a sixth floor coin laundry, and a twenty first floor roof garden. No pool, no executive lounge, no children's playroom. This is a 1973 business hotel and it gave its floor area to guest rooms and to banquet halls.
The fitness center is for guests only, open from half past six in the morning until ten at night, with weights, treadmills and stair climbers, and a sauna. The official site gives that last item a single clause and most summaries miss it. The laundry is coin operated, nine in the morning until ten at night, which makes a real difference on a stay of three nights or more. Coin operated means you need coins, and most people are carrying a transit card and one credit card, so change some before you go down.
There is a scheduling coincidence worth thinking through first: the sixth floor gym opens at 06:30, and breakfast at Checkers on the second floor also starts at 06:30. Breakfast closes at ten and the gym stays open until ten at night, so most people eat first and train afterward.
The roof garden is laid with a southern pine boardwalk and runs from eight in the morning to half past nine at night. This building has twenty floors above ground, and the roof garden is labeled the twenty first floor. Both figures appear in official material, and counting a roof level as an extra floor is common practice.

Caesar Park Taipei rates: nine room types, and why almost nobody pays these prices
The rooms page lists nine room types, from a 20 square meter single to a 50 square meter Station Suite. Nightly totals run from about US$435.33 to about US$761.83. Read the table first, and the reason those figures are theoretical follows underneath.
One thing to expect while booking. The nine names sit in a single column in the booking system, and Superior, Deluxe, Premier, Metro and Metropolis give no clue about which is larger. The only real differences are floor area and bed type. Keep the table below and you will not have to guess on the booking page.

How the nightly total is built
The published rate carries a plus ten percent, which is the service charge, and every page adds a note that the rate excludes five percent tax. This article uses the additive method throughout, rack multiplied by 1.15, and every nightly total above is calculated that way.
One cross check supports it. The published Checkers breakfast rate with ten percent added comes to exactly the per person figure of about US$23 that appears on the Wing On Travel page. That confirms the plus ten percent on food and drink is a straight ten percent, and that no further five percent applies to dining. The extra clause about five percent tax appears on the rooms pages and not on the dining pages.

Why these are the prices
Because almost nobody pays them. The Caesar Park group website autumn 2026 offer starts at about US$119.84 a night, and at about US$101.86 a night on stays of two nights or more. A combined accommodation voucher from the 2025 ITF online travel fair sold at about US$85.14. In early May 2026 Kayak listed a lowest nightly figure of about US$45.84. Rack and transacted prices sit four to five times apart.
That is normal for an established Taiwanese tourist hotel. The rack rate is a ceiling used for travel agency contracts, corporate agreements and banquet quotations, while individual guests move through packages, travel fair vouchers and online agencies. The one reason to keep the table is that it fixes the relative order of the room types, which tells you how far an upgrade actually moves you.
04 · BATHROOM AND IN ROOM SUPPLIES
Does Caesar Park Taipei have a separate shower? Only one room type in nine
This page covers three things you will discover once you are inside the room. First, of the nine room types only the Station Suite has a separate shower enclosure. Second, since 13 February 2026 the rooms hold no bottled water, and each room has a kettle with a dispenser on the floor. Third, the guest room windows cannot be opened. None of the three is hard to handle, provided you know before you book.
One further point about toiletries belongs to a rule that applies to every hotel in Taiwan rather than to this one in particular, so it sits in the closing disclosure. The practical part is one sentence: pack your own toiletries.
The room does supply large bottles of shampoo and body wash, a three in one mousse for hands, face and shaving, a Japanese style yukata, slippers, towels, a hair dryer and a washlet toilet. Conditioner does not appear on the official list. A Japanese guest made the same point on TripAdvisor and advised bringing your own. The Kayak facilities table, however, does list it. The sources differ, so confirm before you book.
The kettle is worth thinking through in sequence. There is one kettle in the room, and the dispenser is out in the corridor. Two people through a whole night, plus brushing teeth and a cup of tea in the morning, will often run past one kettle. The unhurried version is to fill it once while you are setting the luggage down, rather than pulling shoes on at two in the morning.
Bathroom layout: one room type in nine keeps the water off the floor
Compare the bathroom icons on all nine official room pages one by one and the result is tidy: only the Station Suite lists both a separate shower enclosure and a tub, and describes the wet and dry areas as divided. The other eight room types show a tub and nothing else. Guest reviews line up with this directly, and page 10 returns to it.
What that means in practice is that the order of showers becomes something two people agree on in advance. The first person finishes and the floor is wet; the second person walks across it. Where the towels and the bath mat sit turns into the decision that matters. It is a small thing, and it happens once every morning.
One more thing surfaces on the second night: the guest room windows and balconies cannot be opened, for safety reasons. Air in the room is entirely the work of the air conditioning, and you have no way to change it by opening a window. Several reviews mention damp and smell, and that follows from the same design. A client note from June 2025 in the advisor system adds that the window in that room was opaque. A window that does not open and does not show you anything. If you are sensitive to smell, run the air conditioning hard for the first hour after arrival rather than dealing with it on day two.

05 · CHECKERS BUFFET
Caesar Park Taipei breakfast: second floor Checkers, 06:30 to 10:00
Checkers is on the second floor. It is the main restaurant in the building and the place where breakfast is served on room packages. It runs four sittings a day, and the third one exists only on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. If you have planned an afternoon tea for a Wednesday, this page is for you.
The hotel describes the kitchen as local Taiwanese ingredients handled simply, with a salad bar, a Japanese section, carved roast beef, a beef soup poured to order and steamed seasonal fish. In accounts written by people who have eaten there, the Taiwanese counter at breakfast is the section most often singled out: thin noodle soup, rice porridge with small dishes, salty soy milk, braised pork rice, and noodle soups and omelets cooked to order. One account notes a high proportion of Japanese guests at breakfast.

06 · DYNASTY RESTAURANT
Dynasty opens at ten on Saturday and Sunday, and at half past eleven the rest of the week
Dynasty is on the third floor and serves Cantonese and modern Chinese cooking. Its hours occupy one line on the official site, and inside that line sits the most useful timing in the building: lunch 11:30 to 14:30, last orders 13:30, and Saturday and Sunday 10:00 to 14:30. Two and a half hours earlier at the weekend, which is how dim sum service works.
The other numbers to hold are the last orders. Lunch ends at 14:30 with orders closing at 13:30, and dinner ends at 21:30 with orders closing at 20:30. Both sittings stop taking orders an hour before the doors close, which is early for a hotel Chinese restaurant.
In practice this means that if you walk in at twenty to two, people are still seated and dishes are still arriving, and you cannot order. For lunch, aim to be inside before one o'clock, and for dinner before eight. At the weekend there is another option, because the doors open at ten.

07 · DRINK BAR, SPA AND THE ARCADE
The Starbucks on the ground floor earns no points, and the basement is a Japanese food street
The dining page lists three outlets, and the building offers a great deal more than three. Drink Bar on the ground floor runs from eight in the morning to nine at night with food available all day, and the ground floor and basement level one hold the Caesar Mall, with five Japanese restaurants, two coffee and tea shops and a convenience store. All of it sits inside the same building, and all of it connects to the metro.
Drink Bar (1F)
Drink Bar runs a We Proudly Serve Starbucks program, brewing Starbucks espresso roast to order on a Swiss automatic machine. The official site also states plainly that this service does not take part in the member accrual, redemption or promotions of the Uni President Starbucks stores in Taiwan or of OPEN POINT. The most common moment for this to matter is when you are already at the counter with the card out. If you were planning to use a Starbucks card or collect points, that does not work here. The beans are Starbucks, and the membership system runs on something else entirely.
On food there are croissants made to order and a soft egg and bacon roll in the morning, with pasta and the chef's braised beef noodles in the afternoon, and the official page states that food runs all day. There is also Taiwanese beer, wine, whiskey and cocktails, and freshly brewed teas including Taiwanese oolong, Shanlinxi high mountain tea and golden buckwheat.
CAESAR Spa
The treatments draw on Chinese five element and meridian work and on Indian Ayurvedic technique. Open ten to eight, with last bookings at seven. The official page does not state the floor. Prices fall into four series, from about US$47 to about US$215.

08 · COSTS OUTSIDE THE ROOM RATE
Does Caesar Park Taipei have parking? No, and the contracted garage has a fifteen minute rule
The booking notes on every room page carry the same sentence: this hotel does not have a parking lot. It is easy to skip, because the facilities tables on several booking platforms say free private parking instead. Take the hotel at its own word: there are no parking spaces in this building.
Since 1 July 2025 the hotel has worked with the Yongtian garage at 50 Zhongxiao West Road Section 1, open around the clock, with a guest rate. To get that rate you have to go to the ground floor service center first and give the plate number, and then complete the discount, the payment and the exit within fifteen minutes.

11 · THE AREA AND THE ALTERNATIVES
A Qing dynasty city gate stands five minutes away, and it is almost a century older than this building
This page is really just the Taipei Main Station district, and you happen to be staying in the middle of it. Five minutes west is the North Gate, or Chengen Gate, built in 1884 and the only gate of the Qing dynasty Taipei city wall still standing in its original form. East is the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store, below are three underground malls, and north across the road is the station itself.
The walk to the North Gate runs west along Zhongxiao West Road, under arcades the whole way, across two intersections. The gate stands in the open ground where Zhongxiao West Road meets Bo'ai Road, on land left behind when an elevated expressway was removed. Beside it is the Taipei Post Office of 1930, and beyond that the Futai Street Mansion of 1910. Most guests never take this walk, because every sign points the other way toward the underground mall.

12 · THE PARTS NOBODY WRITES ABOUT
Fifty three years ago it was the tallest building in Taiwan, and it now has forty two fewer rooms
Every strength and every weakness in this building can be traced to where it came from. Construction began in 1970 under Huayang Development, the working name was the Jinhua Hotel, and after a management and technical agreement with Hilton in 1972 it became the Hilton Taipei. The architect was Shen Tsu-hai, who also designed Songshan Airport. Twenty floors above ground, two below, and five hundred and twenty rooms, the largest room count in Taiwan at the time.
The opening date has three versions
This is the hardest item in the article to pin down. The Central News Agency archive feature says the building was completed on 14 April 1973 and opened partially from the fifteenth. The English Wikipedia infobox says it was completed on 23 March 1972 and opened on 15 July 1973. The Chinese Wikipedia says it was handed to Hilton to operate in September 1972. All three point at the same stretch of time and none of them matches another. The date has no bearing on booking a room, and putting it in print means saying plainly that the sources disagree.
What that roof used to do
On opening it was the tallest building in Taiwan, a title it held for about a year until the Grand Hotel passed it on 10 October 1973. Because of that height, the authorities installed a closed circuit fire watch station and a seismograph on the building, and at one time an air force anti aircraft unit was stationed there. That position is now the twenty first floor roof garden, laid with a southern pine boardwalk.
A few firsts
The first international chain hotel in Taiwan. The first ethnic Chinese woman to run one as general manager. The first Hilton to turn a profit in its opening year. Guests over the years included Elizabeth Taylor, Tom Jones, Tina Turner and Bill Clinton during his time as governor of Arkansas.
Hilton left, and then came back
In July 1988 Guoyu Development bought the hotel and renewed the agreement with Hilton. The agreement ended on 31 December 2002, the hotel was renamed Caesar Park Hotel Taipei on 1 January 2003, and the outgoing Hilton general manager Wu Pu-ching stayed on as the first Caesar general manager. Fourteen years later, in 2017, Caesar signed a franchise letter of intent with Hilton and the Hilton brand returned to Taiwan, at Hilton Taipei Sinban, next door to Caesar Park Banqiao. The group that saw Hilton out later invited Hilton back.

Lay the timings from the last twelve pages end to end and the day here is framed by two numbers: the sixth floor gym opens at half past six and the twenty first floor roof garden closes at half past nine. Almost everything you might want to do fits inside those fifteen hours.
