The Sheraton in Taipei is a food destination. The one in Taoyuan is a place to sleep near the airport. In Hsinchu the brand takes a third job entirely. This is the hotel for the science park, and it is big enough to need two wings to hold it: 770 rooms, one side built for business and one built for children.
One page per facility, starting with the free shuttle from the high speed rail station and finishing at checkout. Twelve pages, about seventeen minutes.
The last page has a tickable list of twelve things. Nothing on it is required. Two of them are in parts of the building most guests never walk into.
01 · The basics
A hotel split down the middle
The East Wing was built for business. The West Wing was built for families. One complex doing both jobs properly, and the split decides which side you should book. Get it wrong and the whole stay feels off.

The lobby is on a scale that still lands. Twelve and a half meters of clear height over roughly 1,650 square meters, an LCD wall behind reception, an LED staircase to one side, all of it referencing Hsinchu's identity as a technology city. The vocabulary is more than a decade old and it shows, but the sheer size of the room still carries it.
- BookingDecide East or West before anything else. Children go West, meetings go East. This is the single most consequential choice here.
- By trainTake the free shuttle. It runs on a fixed headway and beats the taxi line.
- DrivingParking is free for guests, which in Zhubei is a real saving. The entrance is on Ziqiang North Road, not the main frontage.
02 · Rooms
Forty square meters, and a lot of air above your head
The most solid thing about this hotel is room size. The base deluxe room is around 12 ping, roughly 40 square meters, which is generous for the category. The ceilings are the other half of it. They are high enough that the rain shower head, dropped down on its arm, still reads as low.

The honest caveat
Zhubei has filled in with towers, and some rooms look directly at the building next door with essentially no view. An upgrade to a high floor executive room does not guarantee an escape from this, because it depends on which face of the building you land on rather than how high you go. If the window matters to you, put the request in writing when you book.
03 · Executive floor
The 22nd floor lounge, and a correction
A lot of what is written about this hotel still says the executive lounge never came back after the pandemic. That claim traces to a notice from July 2020. The hotel's own site currently carries a schedule effective January 1, 2026, so the lounge is running, on East Wing floor 22, with two separate seating systems and one of them requiring a reservation.

There is a structural contradiction here
The entire West Wing is built around children. An SGS-certified play space, six themed rooms, free cots and bottle sterilizers. And the best elite benefit in the building, up on floor 22, does not admit anyone under 18.
Which means a Platinum member who brings the family to the West Wing cannot use the benefit they value most. The hotel routes those guests to the Feast buffet on the second floor for breakfast instead. That breakfast is good, and the next page makes the case for it, but it is a substitute rather than the same thing. The rule has a legal basis in Taiwan's tobacco, alcohol, and child welfare statutes, so it is not the hotel being difficult. Against this particular guest mix, though, the friction shows.
- Six o'clockThe best hour on this floor. Twenty-two floors up, the window looks over Zhubei toward the hills, the light is changing, and the food and drink have just come out.
- Half five, sevenThe seating closes for fifteen to thirty minutes. Treat it as a prompt to go downstairs. The fifth floor roof garden is good at exactly that hour.
- SaturdayCocktails need a reserved seating. Mention it at check-in and it is done.
- With childrenThis floor is closed to you. Breakfast moves to the second floor, which honestly suits children better anyway.
04 · Dining
Feast: start with the pork ball soup
Second floor, East Wing. Chinese, Western, and Japanese across close to a hundred dishes. The part that makes breakfast here worth getting up for is local: a noodle station with danzai noodles and rice noodles, and a bowl of proper Hsinchu gongwan, the springy pork balls the city is known for, in clear broth.

The dessert counter is what people remember
The pastry chef here, Huang Fan-wei, trained in France, and his father Huang Fu-shou spent decades doing the same work. Two generations of the same craft, and thirty-odd items made fresh every day. In a hotel from 2010, that kind of stubbornness makes a better argument than any renovation would.
- Room temperature: madeleines, financiers, mille-feuille, French marshmallows in lemon and blackcurrant
- Chilled: dense cheesecake, seasonal fruit tarts, crème brûlée
- The one to look for: a Dulcey tart made with Valrhona caramelized chocolate, the color of milk toffee, with a note of sea salt and crushed hazelnut underneath
- FirstThe pork ball soup at the noodle station. You are in Hsinchu, and this is more interesting than bacon and eggs.
- ThenThe dessert counter, in that order. Look for the Dulcey tart.
- With kidsThis is your floor, and it is more relaxed than 22.
05 · Dining
One main restaurant per wing
The division follows the wings. Cantonese on the business side, teppanyaki and Japanese on the family side, with a wagyu yakiniku brand taking space in the building as well.

06 · Families
A play space with third-party certification
The West Wing kids club is the strongest card this hotel holds, and it carries a claim worth taking seriously: the first children's play room in Taiwan to obtain SGS certification. Safety and hygiene verified by an outside body, which lands differently when you are handing over a toddler.

The certification is worth a sentence more. Most hotels lay soft matting over a corner and call it a kids club, with no external check on equipment, materials, or cleaning protocol. Certification means those things are auditable. It is a claim you can verify rather than a line of marketing.
- BookingReserve the cot in advance, and ask about the bath and sterilizer at the same time.
- Themed roomSpecify which of the six themes you want at the time of booking. It cannot be swapped on arrival.
- TimingThe play space is free and it fills up. Opening time and the dinner hour are the quiet windows.
07 · Facilities
The pool, the baths, and the gym
The leisure floor is the part of this building least affected by its age. The dimensions are generous, the maintenance is good, and neither of those goes out of style.

If sex-segregated nude bathing is new to you, the convention is straightforward: you shower thoroughly before entering the water, and nothing goes in with you. It is standard across East Asia and nobody will be looking at you.

- EarlyThe gym runs all night, which is the useful detail when a meeting has you up at six.
08 · Events
Why a hotel this size exists in Zhubei
Seven hundred and seventy rooms were not built for tourists. The core business is the conference, banquet, and wedding trade of Hsinchu Science Park, Taiwan's semiconductor cluster, at capacities running close to a thousand people and well past a hundred banquet tables.

This explains the shape of the building
Twelve and a half meters of lobby height over 1,650 square meters is not grandeur for its own sake. That is the volume you need when a hundred tables of guests arrive at once. The 770 rooms answer the same brief, which is that everyone attending a conference should sleep in the same building. The space that reads as excessive when you are here as a tourist is fully occupied during banquet season.
One piece of local context worth knowing. The Taiwanese weiya is the year-end company banquet, an obligatory fixture of corporate life, and in a district full of semiconductor firms it is a serious logistical event. Ask about the weiya season and the conference calendar when you book. Rates and availability both move, and the pool and the kids club get considerably busier.

Where it wins, and where it does not
This property has held high scores across the booking platforms for years and is the default choice in the Hsinchu area. The praise clusters on scale and function. The criticism clusters on age.

Zhubei, and the rest of Hsinchu
Zhubei is a new-money district that grew up alongside the science park, and the everyday logistics are well developed. Downstairs is enough for most nights.

What Hsinchu actually has, beyond the semiconductor economy, is hills, lakes, and coastline. This hotel sits where those two things meet. You can take a meeting inside the park during the day and be in a Hakka town or on the coast the following morning without changing hotels.
11 · Little known
Three things people walk past
1. The roof garden on five
Wedged between the meeting rooms and the multipurpose hall is an outdoor roof garden with a surprisingly generous lawn. It works as a wedding ceremony space and an event terrace. With nothing booked, it is somewhere to stand outside and look at the sky, which puts it a long way from the noise of the ballroom two floors below. This building is enormous, and this is the only genuinely quiet outdoor space in it.
2. The second mascot
Everyone recognizes the pineapple lion. The kids club has a second character alongside it that almost nobody registers. The six themed rooms in the West Wing work the same way, six small stories broken out into six room types, and children will happily stay in the room all evening because of it.
3. The flavors travel
The ground floor gift shop sells the usual souvenirs, and also the Cantonese restaurant's signature cured-meat turnip cake and the pastry chef's desserts. Pick up a box on your way out and the kitchen comes with you. These unremarkable corners are usually where an old grand hotel keeps its real strength.

How to book it, and who it is for
Sheraton sits inside Marriott but outside programs like STARS and Luminous, and there is no Fora amenity attached. This runs purely on Bonvoy status, and the value here is in the points.

Alongside the Sheratons in Taipei and Taoyuan, this makes a useful set. One is a food destination in a city, one is a stopover by an airport, and one is a twin-tower machine for a science park. Same brand, three completely different jobs. Which Sheraton you want depends on what the trip is for.
